Skimcoating surfaces is a time consuming and tedious process. Our team is extremely skilled when it comes to mixing and applying a plaster based skimcoat in your home. It is the ultimate service if you want your walls and ceilings to appear brand new!

A bad skimcoat will cause major headaches when done incorrectly. The surface that is being skimcoated must be treated appropriately before application. If plaster is not mixed, applied or the surface is not prepped properly your walls and ceilings may show cracking and peeling soon after your project is complete.

The process of applying a skimcoat starts with the substrate surface. Is there major foundational cracking, water retention in the walls or a decorative wallpaper or faux finish that needs to be removed. Each situation will require different preparation. Once the surface is correctly prepared we begin the mixing process. A perfect ratio of Mud (Joint Compound), Plaster of Paris and Water are mixed together into a smooth paste. That paste is applied either by roller and trowel or completely by hand (preferred). We have done many skimcoats over the years and learned the process from the finest tradesmen in Ireland.
